MTN Mobile Money (MOMO)
As a result to covid ‘19’ all MTN MoMo customers’ wallets have been upgraded to GHC 3,000 and GHC 15,000.00. Customers who wish to increase their transaction limits from GHC 3,000.00 to GHC 15,000.00 can do the self upgraded through *170#, (Option 6 - My Wallet), (Option 7 - Upgrade Profile Type),
Customers who wish to increase their transaction limits from GHC 15,000.00 will need to provide a valid National ID (Ghana Card) and any of the below stated documents:
Utility bills (Water, Electricity, Cable TV bills etc)
Tenancy agreement
Employer's reference letter (Employer to confirm that they know where you live and the address provided is correct)
Bank statement (Just the page where the customers' address is). This should be stamped and signed to confirm that the bank account is active.
Tax Clearance Certificate or Income Tax Certificate
Daily Transaction Limit: This is the total amount of transactions a customer can perform on daily basis. These include deposit, withdrawal, buy airtime, buy data among other MoMo transactions.
AirtelTigo Money (ATM)
Customers’ E-Money accounts have been categorized into three(3) levels as part of a risk-based approach to Know Your Customer (KYC) accounts.
Max wallet balance: This is the maximum balance a customer can have in his/her wallet.
Daily Transaction Limit: This is the total amount of transactions a customer can perform on daily basis. These include withdrawal, buy airtime, buy data among other AirtelTigo money transactions.
Monthly Transaction Limit: This is the total amount of transactions a customer can perform on monthly basis. These include withdrawal, buy airtime, buy data among other AirtelTigo money transactions.
Requirements for Wallet Upgrade
GOLD KYC
Customers must provide Ghana Card.
Platinum KYC
Customers in addition to their Ghana Cards, will have to provide the following valid documents:
Tenancy agreement
Utility bill (in customer’s name)
Income tax certificate
Bank statement
Reference letter or employer’s reference letter.
Vodafone Cash (VF Cash)
Due to covid ‘19’ all customers’ Vodafone cash wallets were upgraded to GHC 15,000.00 (Tire 1). This was done for all customers whose transaction caps were less than GHC 15,000.00 in a day.
In accordance with the Bank of Ghana's regulations, the Vodafone cash wallet limit has been divided into two groups. These are Tire 1 and Tire 2.
Tier 2 - Daily Transaction Limit: - GHC 15,000
Daily Transaction Limit: This is the total amount of transactions a customer can perform on daily basis. These include deposit, withdrawal, buy airtime, buy data among other Vodafone cash transactions.
Requirements For Wallet Upgrade
Customers will need to provide a valid National ID and any of the below stated documents:
TIN certificate (Not TIN number)
A utility bill bearing the name of the customer.
Ghana Post address or GPS coordinates of the customer
Tenancy agreement
3 Months statement of an active bank account.
Recommendation letter; The person making the recommendation should be on tier2 and should not have recommended anyone in the last six months.
Customers who wish to transact with more than the permitted amount must use their banking systems rather than the Mobile Financial Services (MFS).
